Bliss of Childhood

A light-hearted and funny novel that takes you back on a delightful journey from childhood to adolescence, bringing back memories of those early years when innocent friendships were struck, teenage crushes blossomed, love letters were exchanged, gossip circulated, and lessons of life were learnt.
Set in the turbulent 1970s, this coming-of-age novel tells the story of Tito, a precocious eleven-year-old, growing up in a sleepy railway town of Assam. Amidst fierce political unrest engulfing the Northeast and frequent transfers faced by his idealistic father for his futile resistance to government corruption, Tito dreams of becoming a poet one day. Both the political unrest and his father's idealism transform Tito's life, in more ways than he can imagine.
The book also highlights the need to root out widespread social problems like corruption, parochialism and authoritarianism from India.

Originally from India, Pushpak Sarkar is a writer who now lives and finds his voice in New Jersey, USA.
As an IT executive, Pushpak's life has been spent mostly between the walls of multiple corporate offices over many decades. Naturally, his foray into writing began in the realm of corporate IT and Big Data, when he published a book titled 'Data as a Service' with a world-renowned publisher, John Wiley and Sons.
'The Songwriter' was Pushpak's first attempt at publishing literary fiction. Dubbed 'a musical tale' by Asian Age, it got excellent reviews from several Indian newspapers. It also got hailed by music-loving readers around the world.
In his latest novel, 'The Bliss of Childhood', Pushpak draws on the rich experiences of his own childhood to take readers back to the stormy 1970s and relive the dreams of a lost generation about post-independence India and its ideals.
