Beschreibung

Master's Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Pedagogy - Pedagogic Psychology, grade: A+, University of the People (Faculty of Education), course: EDUC 5470, language: English, abstract: This mixed-methods study examined bullying in Nigerian secondary schools, drawing on surveys, interviews, focus groups, and journals from 50 students and 20 teachers in Ilorin. Verbal bullying was most common (45.3%), followed by physical (30%), with gendered patterns. Victims showed lower academic performance, reduced participation, and higher absenteeism. Teachers identified unstructured school settings as hotspots and noted limited interventions. The findings call for targeted anti-bullying campaigns, teacher training, counseling services, and stronger policy enforcement to create safer, more inclusive learning environments.
