Mithras

Mithras explores the history, practices, and reception of Mithraism through literary and material evidence. It attempts to reexamine the origins of the cult and reconstruct Mithraic beliefs and rituals through ancient art. Suitable for students and scholars of Roman and Late Antique religion and ancient society and religion.

Dr Andrew Fear is a Lecturer in Classics at the University of Manchester. Educated at Lancaster RGS and New College, Oxford, he has a long-standing interest in ancient religion and the Western Esoteric Tradition. He has produced translations of the late classical Christian historian Orosius and also Visigothic hagiography.
