In a world layered with unseen battles, The Weight of Shadows: An Anthology unveils a universe where the legacy of Black history is a living, breathing force. This collection of stories and vignettes explores quiet heroism, spiritual warfare, and the profound connections that bind generations.
From the spectral guardians of the Middle Passage to the everyday saints in Louisville, each narrative confronts the beasts of racism, grief, and systemic injustice. Here, history is not just a memory but a power, and the fight for freedom is a sacred, ongoing war waged in the shadows by those who remember. This is a testament to the enduring strength and magic of the Black experience.
Brian Eldridge Sr. is a writer and storyteller born and raised in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, now living in Louisville for over a decade. A graduate of Hopkinsville High School and Hopkinsville Community College, Brian began his writing journey in sports journalism, covering University of Kentucky football and basketball recruiting for the Kentucky Sports Report in 2006. He later joined Scout.com in 2010, focusing primarily on football recruiting across the state.
After years of writing fiction on the side, Brian decided to pursue creative writing in earnest in early 2025. That same year, he developed the concept for the Weight of Shadows Universe, a layered and emotionally resonant world that explores identity, memory, and the unseen burdens people carry.
Brian has been married since 2009 and is a proud father of one son and one daughter.
