This book is the 1st volume of selected papers from the 3rd International Conference on Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability (CEES 2025), held on 11-13 June, 2025 at Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, covering topics related with construction materials and technologies. The 3-volume proceedings present recent developments on innovative construction materials and technologies, on building physics and energy performance, on the environmental effects of manmade infrastructure, on the adoption of the industry 4.0 principals and on the social and economic aspects of sustainable construction and housing, and will make valuable contributions to academic researchers, engineers, planners, stakeholders and policy makers.

Portrait

Dr. Berardi is the current President of the Canadian Acoustical Association and of the International Association of Building Physics (IABP), and he is Full Professor of Building Physics at Politecnico di Bari. Dr. Berardi has been Canada Research Chair in Building Science (from 2021 to August 2024) and Full Professor and Director of the BeTOP center at Toronto Metropolitan University in Toronto, Canada (from August 2014 to August 2024). His main research interests are related to the study of innovative solutions and new materials for improving the performance within the built environment. He has authored over 200 journal papers and has been responsible for grants for over 10M$.
Julieta António is Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra (2002, Portugal). She is Associated Professor at the University of Coimbra and Researcher in the areas of Building Sciences, Construction Sustainability, Wave propagation, Acoustics, Boundary Element Method, Meshless Methods.
Nuno Simões is Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Coimbra and a Member of the Board of Directors of Itecons—Institute for Research and Technological Development in Construction Sciences. He is also the scientific and technical supervisor of the energy, hygrothermal, and exterior cladding systems laboratories at Itecons. He is a member of CERIS—Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability, coordinating the thematic strand “Product Development in the Civil Engineering Industries”. He is a member of the Scientific Coordination and Management Committee and the Committee for Pedagogical and Academic Affairs of the Energy for Sustainability (EfS) initiative, which offers the Master’s program in Energy for Sustainability and the Ph.D. program in Sustainable Energy Systems (part of the MIT-Portugal Program).
