The Isolationist

These poems are a collection of traumas and reflections from a man who spent a vast majority of his adult life in prison. This book is for those who wish to see the darkness that can consume a person whole, and the light required to free them; for those who hold onto hope in spite of despair. Trauma is inside us all, do not let it win.

This American author, now in his early 40s, was 17 when he was sentenced to Life Without the Possibility of Parole (LWOP) and sent to die of old age in a California prison. After 22 years of incarceration, an unlikely resentencing led to his eventual release on parole, and now he lives as a free man. These poems arose amidst the chaos of his years in captivity, and he hopes they tell his story well.
