In the span of one year, Lowe Alexander has lost his mom, his job, and his best friend. He needs a do-over.
One day, a stranger called Bear lumbers into Tamarack Falls and tricks Lowe into applying for a job. Lowe finds himself going from unemployed forest worker to underpaid medicine man faster than he can pound a shot or ask for a number.
After a brief and inadequate apprenticeship, he is thrown headfirst into his new job as a Caretaker of the Scar. The next thing Lowe knows, he is drafted to help an old crush and her Search and Rescue team track down missing hunters.
But something else is also out there shadowing the hunters. Something angry. Something persistent.
