Innovation und Planwirtschaft?

'Innovation and Plan Economy? Technological Change in Centrally Planned Economies on the Example of the German Democratic Republic and the People-s Republic of Poland': The focus of the work is on innovation blockades as well as achievements of selected companies in the German Democratic Republic and the People-s Republic of Poland. Sectors, combines and national institutions are also considered. The work shows that an innovation system typical of planned economies existed in the GDR as well as Poland, although they differed in certain points from each other.

Falk Flade studierte Slawistik, Osteuropäische Geschichte und Volkswirtschaftslehre. Seine vielfältigen Tätigkeiten in Wissenschaft und Lehre führten ihn in verschiedene Institutionen in Mittel- und Osteuropa. Er promovierte zum Thema 'Energy Infrastructures in the Eastern Bloc'. Derzeitiger Arbeitsschwerpunkt ist Wirtschafts- und Technikgeschichte in Mittel- und Osteuropa. Im Rahmen seiner Habilitation beschäftigte er sich mit 'Modernisierungsblockaden in Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft der DDR und VR Polen'. Daraus entstand die Monografie 'Innovation und Planwirtschaft? Technologischer Wandel in zentral geplanten Ökonomien am Beispiel der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik und Volksrepublik Polen'.
