It is one August night in Rome. Carla and Vito have been separated for a while, but they have come together to celebrate their youngest daughter's birthday. It was not an easy divorce. Vito's violent and jealous nature led to a long and secret hell. However, the family dinner goes well, their kids are happy, and it could be said that Carla is too. At the end of the evening everything gets turned upside-down when Vito disappears.
Vito's search becomes tense and frantic; Carla and the children are desperate. There is also another woman involved in the investigation, Milena, who has been his lover for many years. But those who inquire the most about Vito are his relatives and friends from Puglia, and they have mob-like manners. The day the corpse is found, the mystery explodes into a thousand pieces and a suspicion becomes clear.
They are all in search for the truth, but it is up to the police and the judges to find it. It is their job to find out what happened. But in this case, is it possible to have only one univocal truth? Thus, begins the trial of a woman that is a trial of all women.

Antonella Lattanzi nació en Bari en 1979, y actualmente vive en Roma. Debutó en 2004 con una antología de cuentos, Col culo scomodo, y en 2010 publicó su primera novela, Devozione. Después, publicó Prima che tu mi tradisca en 2013, novela que fue finalista del Premio Strega, y en 2017 Una storia nera. Colaboradora asidua en medios escritos como La Stampa y La Repubblica, ha participado en el programa de televisión Le invasioni barbiche, y ha escrito el guión de la película Fiore de Claudio Giovannesi (2013) y de 2night de Ivan Silvestrini (2016).
