Hasti Saadi is a distinguished independent filmmaker, scriptwriter, photographer, and author based in Toronto, Canada. Hailing from the enchanting city of Shiraz, Iran—a place renowned for its profound literary heritage—Saadi's artistic sensibilities have been profoundly influenced by her rich tapestry of cultural experiences accumulated from living and studying in both Iran and Canada. This unique background equips her with a nuanced understanding of the delicate intricacies inherent in these two diverse cultures.
From a young age, Hasti was immersed in a nurturing and intellectually stimulating environment that ignited her passion for the visual arts. At the age of 16, she made the pivotal decision to relocate to Toronto, where she embarked on a journey of academic exploration in photography and New Media. After mastering foundational concepts, she further enriched her creative repertoire by enrolling in an intensive script-writing course under the guidance of Naser Taghvaee, a celebrated Iranian filmmaker whose cinematic works have achieved international acclaim.
Saadi's thirst for knowledge and artistic development led her to participate in a filmmaking workshop directed by the legendary Iranian filmmaker and photographer Abbas Kiarostami, allowing her to refine her skills and deepen her artistic vision. Throughout her prolific career, she has produced and directed six evocative short films, each of which she meticulously crafted through her own writing and direction.
