Beschränkungen des Aufenthalts im Internet durch Bewährungsweisungen nach § 56c StGB

'Restrictions on Internet Access through Probation Orders Pursuant to Section 56c StGB': The aim of the thesis is to investigate a measure for resocialisation adapted to digital life by focusing on internet restrictions through probation conditions. The study focuses on the analysis of the constitutional protection of online activities and the suitability of § 56c StGB as a legal basis for internet bans. Furthermore, it analyses the resocialising effects of internet restrictions through probation conditions and the actual feasibility with a particular focus on monitoring options.

Karen Schmitz studierte Rechtswissenschaften an der Universität Osnabrück. Während ihres Studiums arbeitete sie an den Lehrstühlen von Prof. Dr. Ralf Krack, Prof. Dr. Roland Schmitz und Prof. Dr. Ulrich Foerste. Ihr erstes juristisches Staatsexamen legte sie 2020 in Niedersachsen ab. Während der Arbeit an ihrer Dissertation war sie bei Prof. Dr. Prof. h.c. Arndt Sinn an der Universität Osnabrück als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin tätig und unterrichtete zeitweilig an der Universidad de Murcia Strafrecht. Seit 2023 absolviert sie ihr Rechtsreferendariat am Oberlandesgericht Hamm. Seit 2018 ist sie als ehrenamtliche Opferbetreuerin beim Weißen Ring e.V. tätig.
