Metallurgy and Design of Alloys with Hierarchical Microstructures, Second Edition provides an in-depth exploration of the intricate connections between processing, microstructure, and material properties. Focusing on metallic materials, particularly those used in aircraft structures, the book lays the groundwork for understanding how hierarchical microstructures influence performance. It bridges the gap between computational materials science, physical metallurgy, and alloy design. By balancing multiple engineering properties such as strength, durability, and corrosion resistance, this resource equips readers with the tools to optimize materials for critical structural applications.
The book stands out by offering new coverage of fundamental metallurgy concepts, worked examples, and applications. It introduces the latest developments in the field and integrates structure-property relationships in a manner not previously achieved. With a focus on solving practical problems through calculations and microstructural design, it empowers engineers and scientists to address real-world challenges. Additionally, its emphasis on multi-component materials broadens its applicability across material systems, ensuring relevance beyond aerospace applications.
