Herbert leads a peaceful life in one of Warsaw's suburbs, where nobody knows his dark past. He even carefully hides his true identity from his beloved woman. Being modest tailor from Podkowa Lesna is height of his dreams.
But the past doesn't want to be forgotten. Melania is kidnapped, and her life depends on whether Herbert can deliver mysterious package to Warsaw on time - to a city long since drained of magic, where Herbert's powers don't work.
Travelling 25 miles in few hours doesn't seem like a huge challenge. It becomes one when magicians, emissaries of mysterious Cities Fellowship, Basilisk's worshippers, mercenaries and police follow his trail. Obstacles pile up with every step, and only accidentally met allies and Capital's magic, unexpectedly waking to life, give him some chance of saving his beloved.
