Beschreibung

In 1939 future US Senator Alan Cranston saw what was coming. He tried to warn Americans.
A young Alan Cranston found a copy of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf in Macy's in New York. He had just returned from working abroad, in Germany and Italy, as a correspondent for International News Service, where he had read the original Mein Kampf in German. He wondered why the Macy's version was so thin.
It was thin because its US publisher had allowed Nazi officials to edit the American version of Mein Kampf, removing much of Hitler's antisemitism, and his plans to conquer Europe.
Cranston rented a loft in Connecticut, got tape recorders and hired secretaries, and with his friend, publisher Amster Spiro, created a new and accurate English version of Mein Kampf. He abridged it from 780 to 297 pages, removing some of the longer repetitive ramblings, and added his own annotations, to warn Americans of what Hitler was planning.
Now in print for the first time in 85 years, Alan Cranston's edition of Mein Kampf served as a warning in 1939. It continues to warn us today.
