This novel is a literary text distinguished by its artistic awareness of the vast world of the novel. Its author, Mr. Medhat Shannan, the lawyer, excelled in grasping the threads of events with skill, elegance, and suspense. He also drew his characters with honesty and precision, so they came to match human patterns that resemble them in reality, and his language reflected the ability to be flexible in the narration, which came out eloquent and fluent, representing literary pieces, and confirms the ability to describe and draw details of place, time, human nature, and the contradictions of life and environments, as well as the dialogue in which he relied on the colloquial language to be more credible and expressive of reality. Although the novel tells the adventure of the young lawyer Ali Al-Abasiry) to uncover a crime in which a colleague of his was accused, the events carried threads that intertwined, weaving the tragedy of the homeland as a result of the corrupt people in it, which led to dissolution and collapse in its various aspects, and carried symbols that make the characters and events an objective equivalent to life. Indeed, the heroine of the novel, Anhala Al-Ayyubi), who was almost lost in the storms of conspiracies and fell into a deep abyss without return, is none other than the homeland that the novel was on the edge of the abyss and is still surrounded by dangers. This novel deserves to be read and paused for what it contains of excitement
