Beschreibung

This novel is filled with excitement and suspense, as its main character, Noura, the blind narrator.
Through photographs recognized by an electronic application that explains their content, Noura narrates the history of the image and, consequently, the history of the people appearing in it. Through the personal histories of Noura's family members, we see the history of the Arabian Gulf in general, and the history of Dubai before the discovery of oil, and Bahrain during the early stages of its discovery in particular, through the eyes of a blind person.
The novel is written in an organized and precise style, facilitated by a calm and fluid narrative, as if a river were slowly and calmly carving its course. When Noura describes her movements and travels as a blind person, she describes them step by step, which in writing means sentence by sentence, with the consequential use of a full stop after each sentence/movement.
The reader will gradually become acquainted with the worlds of the blind and with the history of a country before and after the discovery of oil. They will easily and smoothly conduct a comparative study without having to refer to any other source other than this novel.
