Raquel Varela is a researcher at the Institute for Contemporary History at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Hugh Murphy is a visiting reader in maritime history at the Royal Museums Greenwich and professor of economic and social history at the University of Glasgow. Marcel van der Linden is a senior research fellow at the International Institute for Social History in Amsterdam.
