Stephen Vines is a journalist and author. He covered Hong Kong and China from 1987 to 2021 and has served as a regional correspondent for the Observer, Guardian, and Independent. Vines is the founding chief editor of Eastern Express and a regular contributor to Fortune, the Wall Street Journal Asia, the Daily Telegraph, ABC (Australia), Deutsche Welle, and Radio Vaticana.
