Rajiv Menon, a police officer, is after a city rowdy, Bhairav. But Bhairav kills Rajiv's wife to avenge his brother's death in an encounter. Rajiv finds a teacher, Purnima Sen, who witnesses Bhairav Killing a money lender. He gives a shelter to Purnima as Bhairav tries to silence her. During her stay at Rajiv's house, Purnima develops a close relationship with Rajiv's son and his parents. Rajiv proposes to Purnima, but she wants him to first catch Bhairav.
