Have you ever stood face-to-face with an opportunity to do something truly amazing—or something outside your comfort zone, or even just something fun—and simply said, “why not?” If I Discover a New Path is a poetic manifesto for this amazing thing called life, for embracing the many adventures laid out on the path ahead of us. Delicately written with care, this story holds our hand through one life’s journey and reminds us of the wonderment that awaits us when we’re willing to experience it.

Wai Mei Wong is a Canadian children’s book author and former early childhood educator. Her first book—Hello, Dark—was a finalist for the 2022 IODE Jean Throop Book Award and chosen as a 2022 Canadian Children’s Book Centre Best Book for Kids & Teens, while her 2024 release, I Love Myself, was given a feature TV segment during a 2024 episode of CBC’s Kids Book Club. She lives in Toronto. Kornelija Žalpyte is a Lithuanian illustrator, graphic artist, and designer. A graduate of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, she is best known for her picture books and being, at one time, illustrator of the Lithuanian literary children’s magazine Laimiukas. Žalpyte was recently featured in the Illustrators Exhibition at the 2024 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and her 2024 release Mano draugas Hipokampas Unikornas (My friend, the unicorn seahorse) was featured among the Amazing Bookshelf titles at the BolognaRagazzi Awards. She lives in Vilnius.
