18-year-old shifter Tashi is no stranger to violence when the Eavandale cadre of "monster" hunters poses a constant threat to people like her. And while she could choose the safety of her adoptive coven's protective wards, she isn't one to sit on her thumbs when she knows she can save innocent lives.
But three years of keeping the local hunters on their toes hasn't prepared her for a new threat from one of her own. In the wake of another shifter's bloody revival of a 200-year-dead tradition, the self-proclaimed autocrat starts preaching blood purity. Tashi's world is quickly becoming a powder keg, and the one holding the match is the vampire who made her an orphan.
Tashi's only chance at preventing an explosive outcome involves allying herself with supposedly reformed hunters, but not all of them are ready to recognize Tashi's humanity. If they can't learn to put aside old prejudices, both of their worlds will fall into chaos.
