After the scientific age in the 17th Century led to a break with the history of the representation of animals, which lasted approximately 30,000 years, the image of the animal currently shows a radical change. Bernd Hüppauf (Prof. Dr.) ist Emeritus für Deutsche Literatur und Literaturtheorie der New York University. Er hat an Universitäten in Deutschland, Australien und den USA gelehrt. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die Mentalitäts- und Kulturgeschichte der Moderne. Er lebt seit seiner Emeritierung in Berlin.
