Trying to appeal to the generosity and patience of the reader, I will clarify my motivation and also the strategy formulated to develop the edition of this book, putting at your disposal some views, information, and courses that I have considered appropiate to approach the fantastic world of Roberto Bolaño. Ignoting some extreme objections - and with a great dose of audacity - to a certain extent, I propose to develop an experiment, apparently rare by seen. The concurrency of my own texts, selected interviews, biographical elements, and, as the icing on the cake, a pretentious essay of my authorship. I am trying with this to unfold a work that, in some ways I hope will convey with due rigor: a character of enormous originality and humanity.
MAURICIO PERRÍN CARMONA (Valparaíso, Chile, 1949) Mauricio Perrin Carmona is a psychologist from the University of Chile. Throughout his professional career, he has worked in the fields of Clinical and Organizational Psychology. In 2017, he made his literary debut by participating in a writing workshop. At the end of the workshop, he co-authored and published the autobiographical book «Toda la vida». He also participated in numerous reading workshops organized by the Gabriela Mistral Center. Subsequently, he joined the Writing Workshop directed by Omar Cid at the Society of Writers of Chile, where the topic of analysis was Roberto Bolaño's novel «The Savage Detectives». In August 2018, he published his first novel, «Abono en blanco», which explores
the complex evolution of married life. It highlights the contradictions and inauthenticity of a «perfect» couple, entangled in unreal expectations and beliefs that lead them inevitably to dissatisfaction and loneliness. In 2020 the novel was published «Little gardens of perplexity». In 2019, he published the novel «Pequeños jardines de perplejidad», a reflection of a dystopian society where, for various reasons, human relationships do not deepen. Various phenomena marked by virulence, intolerance, ostracism, existential anguish, and in extreme cases, self-elimination, can occur. The border is seen as a symbolic line that helps interpret a segregated reality divided between the «normal» world (the established) and the diverse world (LGBT). The emotional and practical limitations resulting from the serious social outbreak that occurred in Chile and the global pandemic contributed to diminishing his creativity. However, the idea of writing about Roberto Bolaño, specifically his interiority, continued to simmer. Finally, fighting against procrastination, an endemic modern evil, and 20 years after Bolaño's premature death, I have the honor of inviting you to read my book «Bolaño revisited», an unpublished mix of essay and literature that attempts to delve into his soul, personality, motivations, and glory.
