His will was that I write his biography, and I published it while he was alive. Why did I delay fulfilling his will? I don't have a definitive answer. Perhaps the political events that Egypt experienced after his death were like Moses' staff, devouring other journalistic and personal interests. Perhaps I feared that my emotions would overcome me, leaving me to see only what dazzled from him, and thus only half, or even three-quarters, of the truth would emerge. However, the missing part remains pressing and urgent, so that we can see the full picture, so that people can properly understand his life. This is what prompted me to write about him in a disorganized narrative style, not adhering to any order. Whatever comes to mind is written immediately, but with a clear reference to its source. I used a free flowing style, letting the writer's nature be described by the ink in which his pen is dipped. Perhaps the postponement was followed by further postponement until the interest evaporated. But it so happened that I found him coming to my dreams clutching a blank piece of paper, which he would throw and fly away. I am neither exaggerating nor imagining things. The dream seemed like a reminder of what I had promised. And I decided to fulfill the promise and carry out the will. The proof of that is in your hands. Adel Hamouda
