Eli Thomas has to decide if avoiding her hometown forever is worth losing the people who used to mean the most to her, especially Aracely Hernandez, the girl who got away.

Allisa grew up in a small town that's buried in the cornfields of Iowa. She works in education and has a master of science degree in effective teaching with minors in creative writing and film studies. Allisa spends her free time coaching middle school volleyball, binge-watching TV shows, writing, playing with her children, and entertaining her wife. She loves to travel and misses her dog literally every minute she's not with her.
