Beyond Musical Borders

How can music be shared without fixing it into a single definitive form? Beyond Musical Borders combines an extensive songbook, a guide to musical collaboration, and an experimental approach to ear training. Amadeo Bonaiuto invites musicians not simply to reproduce musical material, but to transform it, hear it differently, and make it part of their own musical language. Twenty-six original compositions in concert, B-, and E- versions leave room for individual choices of tempo, form, instrumentation, and interpretation. Crossover explores how migration and encounters between different musical traditions can generate new forms of making music together. Ear Training for Inside-Outside Playing expands harmonic listening and encourages musicians to integrate tension, dissonance, and chromatic colour consciously and intuitively into improvisation. Rather than offering finished solutions, the book repeatedly returns to one question: what happens when musicians trust their ears, their experience, and their own imagination? A working book for anyone who understands composition, improvisation, cultural exchange, and ear training as parts of one interconnected musical practice.
