Beschreibung

Lucy isn’t a normal . . . . She’s a doll on a mission—to find the man who killed her and return the favor. Lucy McQuinn has been murdered, but she’s not about to go quietly. If she doesn’t get to keep breathing, then neither does Kyle, her killer. Possessing the body of an antique doll, she sets out on a quest for revenge. But it’s hard when you’re eighteen inches tall and made of porcelain. For help, she turns to Nicola, a human and fellow outsider with her own reasons to hate Kyle. But in their small idyllic town, no one wants to hear the truth, especially not about such a promising young man. If they can’t expose his crimes, Lucy will have to roll up her lacy little sleeves and teach him a lesson the old-fashioned way—as slowly and painfully as possible. From LA Times bestselling author Barbara Truelove, She’s a Doll is a ghoulish and gleeful tribute to the unstoppable power of female rage and a love letter to the friends who have our back—in this life and the next.

Portrait

Barbara Truelove is the name given to a moderately sentient Homo sapien known to wander land masses in Oceania and occasionally further afield. Unlike a majority of lifeforms on planet Earth, she has an internal skeletal structure, a warm-blooded circulatory system, and more than four meters of intestinal tract, home to various bacteria. Powered by complex carbons and caffeine, Barbara Truelove has existed in varying forms since the early 1990s. During that time, she’s worked as a television production assistant, a hotel receptionist, and a kindergarten teacher. She’s the author of Of Monsters and Mainframes (Bindery, 2025) and the interactive novel Blood Moon (Hosted Games, 2023). Currently, Barbara lives in Australia on the land of the Gandangara people and spends most of her time wandering the streets in search of free Wi-Fi. She’s been writing since she was nine years old and believes it’s probably too late to break the habit now. Barbara Truelove is represented by Allegra Martschenko at BookEnds Literary Agency.
