The love story between Lena, a young harpist, and Lazare, a glassblower, in the late 18th century. Near the end of March in the year 1886 in Belgium, began an extremely violent miners and glassworkers' rebellion in the Sambre Basin. At the same time, the Berlin philharmonic orchestra was in Bruxelles to play a concert devoted to Mozart. Lena, a young harpist, meets Lazare, a glassblower, and with him she becomes embroiled in a plot to hide some secret formulas for ransom. She escapes to America where she begins a nomadic life as a traveling performer, substitute mother, righter of wrongs and spokeswoman for the tragic destiny of the Sioux population.
