Portrait

CHRISTOPHER J. PRIEST (AKA JIM OWSLEY) Best known for his pioneering work on Black Panther in the late 90s, Priest (as Jim Owsley) entered the comics industry as a Marvel Comics intern in 1978. He joined Marvel's editorial staff in 1979, working for Paul Laikin as a managing editor on Crazy Magazine and becoming the first African American editor in mainstream comics. He next became assistant editor for Larry Hama on the Conan titles. As a writer, Owsley/Priest worked on the series Conan the Barbarian, King Conan, The Ray, Steel, Deadpool, and Black Panther. He co-created the series Quantum and Woody, Xero, and The Crew, among others.

DON KRAAR Comic book writer, broke into comics as a writer in the early 1970s with short stories for DC's anthology titles. He became one of the mainstays of Marvel's Conan comics line in the '80s with work on The Savage Sword of Conan, two Conan graphic novels and an extended run on Conan the King that saw the character expand his empire.

JOHN BUSCEMA Best known for his run on the series The Avengers and The Silver Surfer, and for over 200 stories featuring the sword-and-sorcery hero Conan the Barbarian, which he took the pencilling from Barry Windsor Smith. In addition, he pencilled at least one issue of nearly every major Marvel title, including long runs on two of the company's top Magazines, Fantastic Four and Thor. In 1978 he collaborated with Stan Lee to produce the book How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way which has never been out of print and still remains one of the best books available on the subject of drawing comics.

His list of credits runs into the hundreds and includes such legendary characters as Doc Savage, The Punisher, Daredevil, Captain America, Deathlok and Tarzan.

He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2002.
