The Edgewater Hotel sells one promise on every brochure, booking page and brass door plate: every room faces the ocean. The promise is almost true. One room, tucked at the end of a corridor where the carpet stays damp no matter the season, looks out on a street that has no business being there. It is a street in Cole Donovan's hometown, the one he left behind and swore he would never see again.
