This book charts the political, economic and cultural dimension of Spanish royal patronage of Irish Catholics in the British Isles during the Seventeenth Century, from the training of missionaries to the role of priests, friars and other Irish servants in Spanish foreign politics.

Cristina Bravo Lozano is a postdoctoral researcher in early modern confessional history at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
