Químico y vocal de la Real Sociedad Española de Química (Sección Territorial de Murcia). Su actividad profesional está relacionada con la seguridad y salud laboral, pero en su faceta de divulgación recibió el Premio Tesla de divulgación científica 2017 y la Distinción San Alberto Magno 2019 del Colegio de Químicos por la divulgación de la ciencia, y la química, en particular. Es autor de '101 obras esenciales de divulgación científica' (BRMU/Ediciones Tres Fronteras, 2019) y 'Del mito al laboratorio. La inspiración de la mitología en la ciencia' (Cálamo, 2018), donde en este último ofrece un recorrido por más de medio centenar de personajes de todas las mitologías y su relación con la ciencia. Fue coordinador de los ciclos CIeNZA. Encuentros con la ciencia y CIeNZA FICCIÓN, en la Biblioteca Regional de Murcia y comisario de la exposición 'DIVINA CIENCIA' sobre el cómic, la mitología y la ciencia. También es columnista del diario La Verdad de Murcia y colaborador de la revista MUY INTERESANTE. Es autor del blog Ese punto azul pálido, con más de tres millones de visitas, además de ser colaborador habitual en otros medios de comunicación, como radio (RNE, Onda Regional, Radio 3 y Cadena SER) y televisión (LaboratoriUM en La7).
