Francis Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) came to New York in the Roaring Twenties to live his dream and, together with his wife Zelda, soon became one of the city's most sought-after celebrities. His novels "The Beautiful and the Damned" (1922) and "The Great Gatsby" (1925), set in the luxurious world of the American moneyed aristocracy, became instant bestsellers.
