Malcolm M. MacFarlane, MA, is a graduate of the California Family Study Center in Burbank California (now renamed the Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, California) with a Master of Arts in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy. He is a Clinical Member and an Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the Registry of Marriage and Family Therapists in Canada and the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. MacFarlane has worked as a frontline mental health clinician for fifteen years and is currently employed as a mental health therapist with Ross Memorial Hospital Community Counselling Services in Lindsay, Ontario, a rural community mental health center funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health. He has been a contributor to a number of professional journals as well as contributing to the text What Works! Innovation in Community Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Programs. He was a presenter on family therapy with brain-injured clients and their families at the AAMFT annual international conference in Toronto in 1996, and presented a workshop entitled "Family Therapy and Mental Health: 2000 and Beyond" at the AAMFT Millennium Summit Conference in Denver in 2000. He has qualified as an expert witness in the area of social work practice and family dynamics in family court.
