Where have all the intellectuals gone?

The implications of this phenomenon are that individuals like Bertrand Russell, Raymond Williams, or Hannah Arendt-people with genuine knowledge, broad vision, and a concern for public issues-have been replaced by superficial spokespeople, think-tank apologists, and specialists in the production of news and television images.
