Helen DeWitt is the author of The Last Samurai, which has been named one of the best books of the 21st century by multiple publications. Ilya Gridneff was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. As a journalist, his work has appeared in the Financial Times, Politico, and The Baffler. Since 2015, he has helped craft foreign policy for numerous governments. This is his first work of fiction.
