Beschreibung

This book provides recent innovations toward revolutionizing the building technologies toward achieving sustainability, efficiency, and resilience. While there has been significant attention given towards reducing the construction time and costs without compromising the quality with use of advanced AI based methods. A section on innovations in terms of smart materials such as self-healing concrete and phase-change materials to improve durability and energy efficiency is also included. Building Information Modeling (BIM) enhances collaboration and lifecycle management, and sustainable technologies like green roofs, solar panels, and energy-efficient HVAC systems reduce environmental impact. This book contains innovations that could prove instrumental in creating smarter, greener, and more adaptable built environments.

Portrait

Wim Van den bergh, Industrial Engineer in Civil Engineering (1997) and Postgraduate in Human Ecology (2002), started his research work at the Hogeschool Antwerpen in road construction with the development of aged-bitumen bound base, an asphalt mixture using bituminous roofing membranes and asphalt granulate as recycling material. In 2011, he received his Ph.D. from TU Delft (CiTG Road Engineering Section) with his research on the effect of recycling on the healing behavior of asphalt mixtures. In 2013, he became Academic Staff Member of the Faculty of Applied Engineering and Research Leader of Road Engineering Research Section of EMIB research group (Research group Energy and Materials in Infrastructure and Buildings). He is Chairman of the Section Infrastructure of the Department Civil Engineering. Since 2023, he is Leading Professor of the research group sustainable pavements and asphalt research (SuPAR). He has guided 3 research scholars and guiding 6 research scholars currently. Dr. Subhash C Yaragal is currently Professor (HAG) at the Department of Civil Engineering and Deputy Director, National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Mangalore. He obtained his B.E. (Civil) from the National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Mangalore; his M.E. and Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru; and post-doctoral work from Tokyo Polytechnique University, Japan.
