Jo graduated in 1979 with a degree in economics and worked over forty years in the world of investment banking. He managed a range of large UK and US pension funds and unit trusts, investing across multiple sectors - bonds, international equities, commercial and residential property and private equity. In 1989 Jo was recruited to become Managing Director of a merchant bank's institutional and private wealth investment division, launching specialist investment trusts and funds in a variety of industry and property sectors and one of the first corporate underwriting companies in Lloyd's. In 1999, Jo was appointed Chairman of the listed insurance company that he had co-founded in 1995, and served as non-executive director or chairman of several investment trusts and both public and private companies. In 2001 he founded a new private equity and specialist asset management firm that he sold in 2010. Jo remains a Non Executive Director of a successful Lloyd's managing agency and Chairman of a listed fund management business.
