Jordi Agustí (Barcelona, 1954) es investigador asociado en el Institut Català de Paleoecología Humana i Evolució Social (Tarragona) y en el Institut Catalá de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont (Sabadell, del cual fue director entre 1985 y 2005). Es miembro de la Real Academia de Ciencias y Artes de Barcelona y ha sido galardonado con la Medalla "Narcís Monturiol" al Mérito Científico y Tecnológico de la Generalitat de Catalunya. Como paleontólogo, su actividad investigadora se ha centrado en la evolución de las comunidades de mamíferos fósiles de los últimos 10 millones de años, en relación con los cambios climáticos que han condicionado la evolución humana, habiendo publicado más de doscientos artículos en revistas científicas de ámbito internacional. Ha dirigido diversos proyectos de investigación a nivel europeo, así como campañas paleontológicas en el norte de África y en Georgia. En este último pais forma parte del equipo internacional del yacimiento de Dmanisi, en donde se han descubierto los homínidos más antiguos de Eurasia, datados en casi dos millones de años.
