Julia Chapman's sixth Dales Detective Agency novel, Date with Deceit, sees Delilah going undercover at a shoot involving dangerous criminals. A page-turning cosy crime mystery, perfect for fans of Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club and M.C. Beaton. A woman in tears is never the best way to start the week at the Dales Detective Agency. And when it's the town mayor's wife, asking the detectives to investigate whether her husband is having an affair, Samson O'Brien and Delilah Metcalfe know they will have to tread carefully. The case, however, proves to be more complex than even they had imagined. Delilah goes undercover at a local shoot to better keep tabs on the errant husband - and is on the scene for a fatal incident. The Yorkshire town is sent into turmoil, and soon the detective duo are embroiled in a far more serious investigation than mere infidelity. Deceit is rife in Bruncliffe - and it may well prove deadly . . . Curl up with this delightful murder mystery, full of wit, warmth, and a cast of charming characters. Continue the series with book seven, Date With Betrayal. 'A classic whodunit set in the spectacular landscape of the Yorkshire Dales . . . A satisfying read riddled with dry Yorkshire humour (and dry stone walls)' - Cath Staincliffe, author of the Scott & Bailey series
Julia Chapman is the author of the Dales Detective series, which follows the adventures of Samson O'Brien and Delilah Metcalfe as they solve cases in the Yorkshire Dales. Born with a wanderlust that keeps her moving, Julia has followed her restless feet to Japan, Australia, the USA and France. She spent the majority of that time as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language but also dabbled in bookselling, pawnbroking, waitressing and was once 'checkout-chick of the month' at a supermarket in South Australia! Her first series of books, the Fogas Chronicles, were written while she was running an auberge in the French Pyrenees with her husband. Published under her real name, Julia Stagg, the novels are set in that spectacular mountain area. Now, having spent many years wandering, she is glad to call the Yorkshire Dales home, its distinctive landscape and way of life providing the setting for her cosy crime series.
