Lee Clay Johnson was born and raised around Nashville, Tennessee, in a family of bluegrass musicians. He holds an MFA from the University of Virginia and teaches at St. Joseph’s University in Brooklyn, New York. His first novel, Nitro Mountain (Knopf), was awarded the Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction by the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Bloodline is his second novel.
