The present edition of the second volume of the book “Materials Strength of Gas Turbine Parts” is devoted to the presentation of the issues of structural strength of parts of gas turbine plants for different purposes, including corrosion, protective coatings, operating experience and bench tests and, most importantly, modern non-traditional methods of calculations of stress-strain state and strength of gas turbine unit parts under various types of loading. In particular, it concerns deformation, fracture and crack resistance under thermocyclic loading modes of heat-resistant alloy parts.
The author:
Leonid Borisovich Getsov is Chief Researcher at the Central Boiler and Turbine Institute. In 1953, he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute and at the same time Faculty of Physics, Leningrad University, and defended his Ph.D. thesis in 1962. Then, he was approved in the rank of senior researcher in the specialty "metallurgy and heat treatment of metals" in 1966. In 1979, he defended his doctoral dissertation (doctor of science). He has 70 years of experience in production engineering, research in various fields of mechanics and materials science (material modeling, properties of polycrystalline and single-crystal heat-resistant alloys under steady-state and non-stationary loading conditions, general strength problems) and teaching, including 20 years in higher educational institutions. Since 2022 he is retired.
The Editors and Translators:
Holm Altenbach is Full Professor of Engineering Mechanics at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Materials, Technologies, and Mechanics. He has 45 years of experience in teaching and research in various fields of mechanics (material modelling, mechanical analysis of thin-walled structures, composite mechanics, general strength problems, generalized continuum models, etc.). Since 2022 he is retired.
Konstantin Naumenko is Professor at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Materials, Technologies, and Mechanics. His research focus is on structural mechanics, materials modeling and mechanical engineering in various fields of mechanics and materials science (material modeling, properties of polycrystalline and monocrystalline heat-resistant alloys under steady and non-stationary loading conditions, general strength problems) and teaching, including 20 years in higher educational institutions. Since 2022 he is retired.
