Leslie Charteris (1907-1993) was a British-Chinese novelist and screenwriter best known as the creator of Simon Templar, the charming, audacious adventurer known as the Saint. Born Leslie Charles Bowyer-Yin in Singapore, Charteris adopted his pen name while still a young man and created Templar before his twenty-first birthday. The character became the center of an extraordinarily successful series spanning novels, novellas, short stories, radio, film, television, and comics.
