Irina and Lawrence are two Americans who live in London. He is an expert in international relations. She is a childrens book illustrator. For the last five years, on July 6th,they always have dinner with their friend Ramsey Acton to celebrate his birthday.Ramsey is a professional snooker player, who has earned a lot of money with the sport. And when the next occasion of their meeting arrives, Lawrence, away on a work trip, insists that Irina goes and has dinner with Ramsey to keep the tradition alive. She doesnt feel like it, but agrees. And at the dinner Irina discovers that she never really knew Ramsey, and what was supposed to be an innocuous evening, becomes a parting of the waters and that she faces a decision that will change her life forever.
