A specialist on twentieth-century political history with a focus on the Roosevelt era, she has published widely on topics ranging from the New Deal, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt to government workers. Rung is the recipient of two Fulbright Scholar awards, former chair of the board of the progressive newsmagazine, In These Times and national board member of the National New Deal Preservation Association.
