At Cornell Law School, it's not enough to be a brilliant student. To stand out, you have to be the best. And to be the best, you have to get the scholarship. This is something that Vera Velasco is very clear about. That's why her plan when she arrives at Cornell is simple: to work hard and make the most of it to be one of the four people awarded the scholarship. And if along the way she ends up isolating herself from the rest and losing herself, so be it. Of course, what Vera doesn't expect is to run into a group of four students who, like her, want the scholarship. Everyone warns her not to get close, that they are dangerous, capable of anything to get what they want. But there is something in Vera that stops her from doing so. Because she is fascinated by them. Because they attract her. Because she knows that, deep down, they are the same.
