Fourteen classic stories from Science Fiction Hall of Fame author Poul Anderson showcase the range, intelligence, adventure, and imaginative force that made him one of the giants of the field. A multiple Hugo and Nebula Award winner and a Grand Master of science fiction, Anderson brought scientific seriousness, historical imagination, wit, action, and philosophical depth to stories that ranged across star empires, lost ships, alien worlds, future revolutions, strange inventions, and the fate of humanity. This Positronic Super Pack gathers more than five hundred pages of Anderson's shorter work, including stories first shaped by the magazine era that defined golden age and postwar science fiction. These tales move from space adventure and planetary conflict to political speculation, future history, satire, sword-and-sorcery flavored fantasy, and hard-edged questions about civilization, survival, and human nature. Anderson was never only a writer of gadgets or battles; at his best, he used speculative settings to test courage, loyalty, intelligence, freedom, and the cost of progress. Included in this volume are: Industrial Revolution Innocent at Large Sargasso of Lost Starships Duel on Syrtis The Sensitive Man Lord of a Thousand Suns Out of the Iron Womb! Star Ship Witch of the Demon Seas Sentiment, Inc. Security Inside Earth The Valor of Cappen Varra The Chapter EndsFor readers of classic science fiction, pulp adventure, space opera, planetary romance, and vintage speculative storytelling, this collection offers a substantial entry into the work of one of the field's most honored writers. Portrait

Poul Anderson was one of the major science fiction and fantasy writers of the twentieth century, known for his range, intelligence, narrative energy, and command of history, science, myth, and adventure. Born in 1926, Anderson wrote across many forms of speculative fiction, including hard science fiction, space opera, time-travel stories, historical fantasy, heroic fantasy, and alternate history. His best-known works include the Technic History stories, the Time Patrol series, Three Hearts and Three Lions, and many award-winning shorter works.Anderson's fiction often combines rigorous world-building with old-fashioned storytelling force. He was equally at home with starships, empires, time paradoxes, Norse myth, alien cultures, and sword-bearing heroes. "The Valor of Cappen Varra" shows his gift for heroic fantasy and legend-inflected adventure, while his larger career made him one of the essential names for readers of classic science fiction and fantasy.
