The book you have in your hands is not intended to be a chronicle of the conquest of the American continent, but a series of images of a violent world, of specific episodes that took place throughout the 16th century within that great historical event. Based on a solid documentary foundation and from the perspective of the characters themselves, through a vision of the 16th century and not the 21st century, they will be able to witness key episodes of the American adventure, which unfold from the conquest of the Canary Islands, which was the first test of the new techniques of ocean navigation and military and commercial tactics, up to the defense of the empire from the incursions of Spain's main enemies in Europe - France and England - in the Panamanian epicenter, the main communications hub between the two continents. The conquest was neither of saints and heroes, nor of genocidal men. The world of the 16th century, and that of all ages, was extremely violent, because violence is inherent to the human species. They will witness the violence of the Spanish conquerors against the native American peoples, against the Maroons and against the English, and that of all of them against the Spanish, but also the violence between the native peoples and the Maroon Africans, between the native peoples themselves, and between the Spanish conquerors, in bloody civil wars. The conquest of America was a history of violence.

Licenciado de Historia por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y especializado en Historia Moderna. Ha trabajado en los principales archivos de España, como el Archivo General de Indias, el Archivo de Simancas, la Biblioteca Nacional, el Archivo Histórico Nacional, o en la Real Academia de la Historia, entre otros. Es autor del libro ' Matanzas 1628' sobre la captura de la flota de Nueva España de Juan de Benavides Bazán.
