La Máquina de Los Sueños

El viejo Cayetano recorre la ciudad empujando su carrito y recogiendo cachivaches que los demás tiran. Algunos consideran que está loco; otros piensan que es un sabio. Un día conoce a un niño silencioso y triste llamado Fernando, quien es nuevo en el barrio. Para alegrarlo, Cayetano le cuenta que es inventor y que está construyendo una máquina de sueños. ?-Para qué sirve esa máquina? ?pregunta el chico. ?Para que los sueños se conviertan en realidad ?responde Cayetano. Esta premisa da lugar a una emotiva historia sobre la amistad dirigida a lectores de todas las edades. El texto del uruguayo Ricardo Alcántara y las deslumbrantes ilustraciones del español Juan Ramón Alonso establecen aquí un sutil maridaje.

Ricardo Alcántara is an Uruguayan writer and one of the foremost authors of children's literature in Spanish. His best-known books include Un cabello azul, Un cuento grande como una casa, Carne y uña, and Qué quieren los viejos. He has received various awards for his work, including the prestigious Serra d'Or, the Premio Austral Infantil, the Lazarillo, and the Apel-les Mestres. Juan Ramón Alonso is a Spanish artist and illustrator. He holds a degree from the Facultad de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. He is currently a professor at that institution and at the Centro Español de Nuevas Profesiones. He began his career as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines before working with various publishers. His awards include the Premio Austral Infantil, the Premio CCEI, and the Premio Internacional de Ilustración from the Fundación Santa María. He is also a five-time finalist for the Premio Nacional de Ilustración.
