In one-night Zinra lost everything - her family, her home, and her right hand and eye. About to die with them, she struck a deal with the Lord of Fire, (the primordial representation of fire) to be saved from the flames. Her family was killed by Justice, a religion that has been taking root in her homeland. When she was saved from the flames, she became the herald for the Lord of Fire, and gained the power to control fire. Lost, hurt and full of anger Zinra sets off to find a woman named Ansia. All while she has the voice of the Lord of Fire in her head. She doesn't find Ansia but finds her daughter Amarensia who runs a smuggling operation in town. There she makes new friends; the kind Targon who trains her in combat, Amarensia that always has a plan, and Lezz who's always up for a game of chess and helps her control her new powers. Now she must find out what her new powers can do and to come to terms with her loss and new life. And even though she likes her new friends, their goals may not align. She wants to take revenge against Justice, to burn them all to ash. But her friends just wants to survive another day. And on top of it all, she has to contend with the Lord of Fire and their own plans. A story about loss, revenge, found family, love and making something new.
